He studied medicine at the University of Antwerp and completed further training in various Belgian hospitals, as well as at King's College London and the Christie Hospital in Manchester. Specialising in medical oncology and a doctorate (PhD) in medical sciences.

Dr Luc Dirix is Senior Advisor in Medical Oncology and former Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at the Oncology Centre of AZ Sint-Augustinus in Wilrijk. He studied medicine at the University of Antwerp and undertook further training at various Belgian hospitals, as well as at King's College London and Christie Hospital in Manchester. Dr Dirix is a member of several national and international medical professional associations and previously served as chairman of the Belgian Society of Medical Oncology. His scientific work includes over 500 publications, including articles, monographs and chapters in textbooks.
