The Collaborative Care Platform, better known as CoZo, forms an essential digital link in contemporary Belgian healthcare. The platform connects patients, healthcare providers, and healthcare institutions, enabling the smooth and secure exchange of medical data and information. Let's delve deeper into what CoZo offers and how it improves collaboration between all parties involved.
Better information flow
CoZo acts as a transparent window, enabling patients and healthcare providers to view medical results available in connected institutions and linked eHealth platforms. Crucially, however, CoZo itself does not store medical results; they remain at all times within the producing institution or source.
Extensive network of healthcare institutions
Over 35 hospitals, 35 psychiatric institutions, various rehabilitation centres, and dozens of private laboratories and private radiology practices are currently connected to CoZo. Each institution retains autonomy over which medical data they share via CoZo, both with the patient and with the treating healthcare provider.
Informed consent
The strength of CoZo lies in the informed consent patients provide. This consent enables healthcare providers to securely exchange medical data with the aim of ensuring optimal quality and continuity of care. This consent is valid nationally and can be registered on CoZo or the eHealth platform, always with the explicit consent of the patient.
Only healthcare providers who are treating the patient have access to their medical records after informed consent. This treatment relationship usually lasts for 15 months after the patient's identity card has been scanned for a consultation.
Information sharing via CoZo
Via CoZo, all useful medical data for the patient's treatment can be shared, including:
- Medical reports
- Research results
- Medical images
- Vaccination and medication schedules
- Prescribed medication
- Dismissal letters
- Concise Medical Record (SUMEHR)
Medical data available on other platforms with which CoZo integrates can also be requested.
CoZo: Log in
Everyone with a Belgian electronic identity card (eID) automatically has access to the CoZo platform. Logging in is done with the eID and PIN or a digital key from an accredited partner such as It's me. Authentication is based on the INSZ number (Belgian national register number or Bis number).

Integration with Mediport Medical Centre
All medical research results that in Mediport Medical Centre will be carried out, are automatically uploaded to the CoZo platform. This means that patient data are immediately available to the healthcare providers involved after each examination, which benefits the speed and accuracy of diagnostics and treatment.
